AUBURN-Betty Jean (Horner) Hakala, 84, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012 in Salem, NH.
Her husband of 58 years, Henry N. Hakala predeceased her in 2006. She leaves three sons; Robert A. in Michigan, Henry J. of Worcester and Michael J., and his wife Donna in Tennessee ; a daughter, Shari L. Labovites of Worcester; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, William M. Horner in Arizona; two sisters, Margaret Blake and Patricia Wenk, both of Chicago, IL; many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by four sons, Bruce A., Dennis P., William M. and Craig Hakala. She was born in Chicago, IL, daughter of William M. and Margaret (Harvey) Horner, moved to Worcester and graduated from Classical High School. Betty
Jean worked as a CNA at Providence House Nursing Home for many years and prior to that, she was a retail manager at the Outlet Department Store. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held today, Friday, February 17 from 5-7 PM at LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler St. A funeral service will be held tomorrow, Saturday, February 18 at 10 AM in the funeral home.
